STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS, DESIGN, MESSAGING
STOLEN BELONGING
I designed this multifaceted arts organizing project (website, videos, art, graphics and creative actions) in collaboration with Coalition on Homelessness. Working with a team of unhoused or formerly unhoused residents, we're documenting the belongings taken from homeless residents during the city’s sweeps, revealing the ways in which such thefts steal a person’s ability to belong in their community and the city. Using narrative-based strategy, art, and action, the project amplifies the call to STOP THE SWEEPS, asserting a RIGHT TO REST, and demanding HOUSING NOW. Full details: StolenBelonging.org |
TECHSPLOITATION IS TOXIC
I designed the creative tactic, messaging and art for this action in collaboration with Coalition on Homelessness and various SF tenants fighting displacement. It highlighted tech privilege and the hypocrisy of SF leaders letting companies utilize public space while denying the same rights to unhoused San Franciscans. It was also designed to draw connections between the exploitation of workers and the environment, and draw on our previous protests of other instances of Big Tech privatization of public infrastructures - the 'Google buses'. |
NO on PUQR combined campaign
I designed this messaging, strategy, and creative intervention and also organized tenant rights groups to work with homeless advocacy groups in a shared effort for housing justice - combining the No on PU with the No on QR campaigns (anti-affordable housing and homeless criminalization ballot measures respectively). |
STOP AIRBNB EVICTIONS / PROP F
I designed two creative interventions, as well as their affiliated media and messaging strategies to highlight evictions and displacement due to rent controlled units being flipped for short-term rentals. Both were tied to the larger Prop F campaign to regulate the company. |
CAMPAIGN DESIGN
I designed the campaign graphics and messaging for local SF efforts to pass Prop 10 (statewide effort to repeal Costa Hawkins), and merged them with Prop C to combine our forces while highlighting the intersecting benefits of passing both - protecting tenants and preventing homelessness. (door hangers, post cards, posters, social media graphics and messaging) I also designed Alameda's No on K campaign mailer to prevent landlords from making rent control illegal by a ballot charter initiative. |
MURAL & CONCEPT DESIGN
For the exhibit Choreographies of Disclosure, featuring the works of LGBTQIA2S Bay Area artists and survivors of sexual violence, I designed this mural titled Our Collective Queer and Trans Identities, Roots, Power, and Synergies. The 59 identities given by participating artists make up a facet of multiple larger formations, some seeming to crystalize, others pushing against boundaries like the tension of a guitar string, and a few seeming to fly into other realms of meaning and magic making. |
